Mojacar Blues

(For Anthony, 6.4.1999)

It takes time
to learn
to sing the Blues.

It takes time
to learn
its bitter-sweet chords and melodies.

One day,
so my dream,
when the Blues sets in,

We unpack
our instruments
in the middle of Mojacar

Which means
anywhere and everywhere

And then we play and sing and shout and stomp
together
your Blues and my Blues and everbody elses Blues,

Till everything
alive or dead
flesh or stone

Is up
on its feet

And plays and sings and shouts and stomps

With us

The jazzy movements
of our troubled souls,

Happily.
